Come as you are. Bring a side dish.

Bubba's Temple is a warm, low-pressure congregation built on three sacred truths: snacks are good, naps are holy, and you should probably just be nice to people.

The Three Pillars of Bubba

Other faiths have complicated theology. We have a laminated card on the fridge.

Snacks

Every service ends with a potluck. Every potluck ends with somebody's aunt insisting you take a plate home.

Rest

Bubba teaches that a nap is a prayer you take lying down. Recliners are available on a first-come basis.

Being Decent

Hold the door. Return the cooler. Wave the other car through at the four-way stop. That's most of it.

Who is Bubba?

Nobody is entirely sure. Some say he was a humble bait shop owner who achieved enlightenment while waiting for a fish that never came. Others say he simply sat down in a lawn chair one summer afternoon and refused to get up until he had "figured some stuff out."

Forty days later, he stood, stretched, and spoke the words that would found a movement: "Y'all ever notice how everything's better with a little shade?"

The Full Gospel

"Blessed are the ones who bring ice, for theirs is the cooler that never runs dry."

Testimonies of the Faithful

Real words from people we definitely did not make up.

I came for the free brisket. I stayed because nobody asked me to fill out a form.

Bubba looked me in the eye and said "you're doing fine." I felt that.
